Odysseus washes up on the shores of Ithaca, his kingdom that he left more than twenty years ago to fight in the ruthless Trojan War. The once mighty king, now scarred beyond recognition by the war, finds a kingdom totally changed. His wife, Queen Penelope (Juliette Binoche), lives as a prisoner in her own home, besieged by violent suitors who want to marry her in order to take over the throne. Their son Telemachos (Charlie Plummer) must constantly battle these assailants who see him as a threat to the throne. To save his family and regain what he has lost, Odysseus will have to face his past.

Director Uberto Pasolini (Nowhere Special) bases this grim retelling on Homer's "The Odyssey," and brings star actors Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche back together on the big screen for the first time since The English Patient. The film had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival.
