The cooperation between writer Koen Caris - winner of the Hebban Debut Prize 2022 - and director Hanneke Braam produces one theatrical gem after another ('Bonita Avenue,' 'Komt een vrouw bij de dokter'). For the exciting family drama 'Waterlanders,' Caris comes with a text of her own, about a village ravaged by water. When a drowning person washes ashore in a family's garden after yet another flood, the mutual relationships are brought to a head. Mother Sofie becomes obsessed with the boy, causing a rift between the family members. Meanwhile, adolescent son Kees drifts further and further away. How do they find each other again in the midst of this turbulence?
