This summer, Loevestein Castle will once again serve as the backdrop for special cultural evenings and culinary experiences. With an atmospheric Delta Concert, a unique summer lunch from the Taste Museum, and the popular movie nights, Loevestein offers visitors three special ways to experience the centuries-old castle and fortress in a new light. Musical Summer Evening at the Delta Concert On Thursday, July 9, the tournament field at Loevestein Castle will transform into an open-air concert venue for the Delta Concert featuring the Nymphéas Trombone Quartet and singer Sterre Konijn. The quartet, consisting of musicians from leading Dutch orchestras, will join forces with Sterre Konijn to present a program filled with impressionistic sounds, new music, and poetic vocals. The castle’s historic surroundings and the surrounding river landscape create a special ambiance. Movie Nights at a Unique Location The beloved movie nights are also returning to Loevestein this summer. On September 3, 4, and 5, the fortress of Slot Loevestein will be transformed into an intimate outdoor movie theater. As the sun slowly sets and the castle is beautifully illuminated, take your seat on the tournament field. The place where knights once battled becomes, on these evenings, the spot where you watch impressive films under a vast starry sky. In collaboration with the Gorinchem International Film Festival (IFFG), a selection of compelling films will be screened—films that resonate and linger in your mind. Stories that move you, challenge you, and inspire reflection. Taste Forgotten Flavors at the Smaakmuseum Summer Lunch On September 13, Loevestein Castle and Creative Chef Studio are joining forces for a special culinary experience: the Smaakmuseum Summer Lunch. Expect an edible exhibition at the table, including a presentation and food performance by Creative Chef and artist Jasper Udink ten Cate. Discover forgotten vegetables and heirloom plant varieties from the Taste Museum’s vegetable garden—think historic carrot varieties, unique beets, and rare cucumber varieties. In addition to a multi-course lunch, guests will be treated to stories about food, nature, and history, all in line with the exhibitions at Loevestein. The lunch concludes with a packet of seeds to help you promote biodiversity in your own garden.
