Fourteen artists give color to the Geertruidskerk in Geertruidenberg

This summer, the Geertruidskerk in Geertruidenberg will again be open to the public.
The church in itself is worth a visit. The magnificent interior, the impressive wall panels, the Vollebregt organ and the crypt are a feast for the eyes. But in the coming months, another very interesting element has been added. Starting June 4, the historic Geertruidskerk on the Elfhuizen will be the setting for a special and multifaceted art exhibition. Under the title "14 artists in 11 houses" (a nod to the address of the church), fourteen creators will exhibit their work in the monumental building for three months.

The exhibition is partly an initiative of Maud Quaedvlieg, a well-known artist from Breda with a studio in Raamsdonksveer and a warm bond with Geertruidenberg. When she was approached to exhibit in the church, she did not hesitate for a moment. Within record time she managed to gather around her a group of enthusiastic artists and makers. Remarkably, the entire organization was up and running within two weeks.

Great diversity

The participating exhibitors are a mix of professional artists and passionate creators, both from the region and beyond. The disciplines vary considerably. Visitors can count on a varied range of paintings, glass art, photography and textile art, mixed media to wickerwork, paper art and sculptures. The artworks engage in a unique dialogue with the authentic, serene atmosphere of the centuries-old church.

Participating artists are from Geertruidenberg, Raamsdonksveer, Breda, Drimmelen, Den Bosch, Putte and Amersfoort.

Practical information

The exhibition "14 Artists in 11 Houses" can be visited from June 4 through September 13.
Admission is free, but a donation is greatly appreciated and goes entirely to the maintenance of the Geertruidskerk. Opening hours are from noon - 4 p.m.

The grand opening will take place on June 4 at noon and is free to interested parties.
