The Old Guard
The military guardhouse on Waterpoortstraat dates from 1836 and was built on the site of the former Dordrecht Gate. It served as accommodation for soldiers controlling traffic to and from Geertruidenberg, during the fortification of the fortress after the Belgian Revolt. Behind the guardhouse was a long military warehouse with fire extinguishers for the garrison.
