3. Vlijmens Ven - 8,2km

Walking in Vlijmens Ven is walking in a historic and swampy landscape. This nature reserve, part of a larger network with De Moerputten and the Bossche Broek, functions as a water storage area to prevent flooding in 's-Hertogenbosch. During your walk along the centuries-old Heidijk, constructed in 1359, you'll discover the rare blue grassland that has doubled in size here thanks to recent developments. This sparse, wet grassland is rich in plant species, and in spring the fields bloom colorfully.

This route may be extended with the following route: The Moerputten.

4. The Moerputten - 5.3km

When you go hiking in the Moerputten near Den Bosch, you enter a rare low moor swamp, which is a unique landscape in the southern Netherlands. The most striking element is the old railroad bridge that crosses the swamp. Today, no trains run there anymore, but the 600-meter long restored Moerputtenbrug has become a beautiful walking trail. Walk across this iconic bridge and continue your way across the wooden marsh decking, where you'll feel like you're in a jungle. The nature of the Moerputten is a hidden gem.
