A piece of Japan among the cherry trees in RaamsdonkCherry blossom in De Langstraat

Many people travel to Japan to see cherry blossoms, but you don't have to travel that far. You can also just do that in De Langstraat. Namely in the orchards around Raamsdonk, at De Kersenhof, an atmospheric place where you can taste local products and enjoy and learn about the blossoming cherry trees.

The Cherry Court

As soon as spring begins, De Kersenhof's orchard turns into a place in full bloom and color with lots of cherry blossoms. From late March through the end of April, the orchards are in full bloom.

And De Kersenhof is much more than just blossom watching. It's a place where you can experience the whole process up close, from blossom to growth and finally harvest. During cherry season, from early June through the end of July, everything here revolves around cherries. Then you can enjoy fresh cherries straight from the land.

On the grounds you will find a store and an orchard terrace, where you can sit inside or outside, relaxing with something tasty while looking out over the orchards. Outside the cherry season, there are plenty of cherry products available, such as jams, cherry juice, dessert sauce, syrup, chutney and even liqueur.

Another nice touch, tours are also organized during cherry season where you can learn more about the different cherry varieties and the process. You have to book it in advance and it's only available on weekdays between 9. 00 and 12.00 a.m. and 12 p.m. The tour is with a little train through the orchard, which includes a cone bag of cherries. There is also a beekeeping service, which is in keeping with the blossom period and to get the best quality cherries.

Domain Buitendijks

And then cherries are not even the only local product sold here. The vineyard, Domein Buitendijks, located next to the cherry orchard, has been in existence since 2021 and is a place in the region to discover Dutch wine.

Different types of wine are produced here, from fresh white wines and rosé to red and sparkling varieties. Love the wine, but not the alcohol? Then there is also non-alcoholic wine available. This local wine has a story, which makes it fun to visit Domein Buitendijks and perhaps take a bottle home with you.

Walking route 'Through the Raamsdonk polders'.

If you want to get the most out of your visit, the route 'Door de Raamsdonkse polders' is highly recommended. This walking route takes you through the landscape of De Langstraat: vast meadows, water and of course the orchards.

Especially in spring and summer this route is at its best. The fresh colors, blooming flowers and peaceful surroundings make it a wonderful combination for everyone. So combine a visit to De Kersenhof and Domein Buitendijks with this walk and make it a complete day out.

For a beautiful blossom experience you don't have to go to the other side of the world at all. In De Langstraat you will find everything you need for a successful (spring) day: blossoming orchards, local delicacies and a fun route through the Raamsdonk polders.
