The Zone of Interest War/Crime - Film
The Zone of Interest
Director Jonathan Glazer (Under the Skin) shows the banality of evil. 'A merciless masterpiece' (five stars - BBC). Camp commander Rudolf Höss (Christian Friedel) lives with his family in a beautiful, spacious service apartment with a large garden adjacent to the wall of Auschwitz. His wife Hedwig (Sandra Hüller, Anatomy of a Fall) feels like royalty. In these surroundings she creates a paradise for her family, and she will not let this be taken away from her.
The Zone of Interest was awarded the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival and is the United Kingdom's Oscar entry for Best International Film. Glazer based himself loosely on Martin Amis' book of the same name.
