Parish and church proverb trail
You have just walked down Monseigneur Völkerstraat, a street named after the pastor who lived here around 1900. At that time more and more people came to live in Kaatsheuvel, so the church that stood there then, the Waterstaatskerk, became too small. About that church it was said: "people sat there like herrings in a barrel". Or to put it another way: the people had to sit much too close together. Therefore pastor Völker ordered the construction of this large church.
