Library Loon op Zand

This location is part of the "Walking in Historic Loon op Zand' route.

This old part of De Wetering was built in the years 1843-1844 as a rectory for pastor Henricus Spoorenberg. After the construction of a new rectory next to the church, the building was converted into a convent for the Sisters of Schijndel in 1899 and expanded with a number of classrooms for the education of infants and girls. The convent was taken over by the Brothers of Tilburg in 1926 and was named Brotherhouse St.-Eligius. In 1974 the building was sold to Huize Assisië (Prisma Foundation) in Biezenmortel. From 1975 to 1993 the building served as a boarding house (Inverte) for people with mental disabilities. Nowadays the library is located here.
