Want to learn about the maritime industry in Geertruidenberg?
You can do just that on Inland Waterways Day. It’s a unique opportunity to see, feel, smell, and experience everything that happens on and around the water. Discover it for yourself during Inland Waterways Day. You’ve got to experience it!
This year, Inland Waterways Day will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026. On this day, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., shipyards and maritime companies throughout the Netherlands will open their doors to the public.
In our municipality, three shipyards are participating: Asto Shipyard B.V., Nieuwenhuijsen Scheepsbouw B.V., and Ruijtenberg Shipyard B.V. These shipyards will open their doors for a day filled with technology, craftsmanship, and fun for all ages.
On this day, several large ships and/or tankers will be on dry dock. Step aboard and see the impressive (dry cargo) ships being completed in our municipality. These shipyards also handle ship repairs and provide international services.
Under supervision, visitors can also try their hand at welding. In addition, a computer-controlled cutting table will be in action, creating something fun especially for visitors.
During Inland Waterway Day, the three companies mentioned would like to show what they’re all working on together every day.
Come see, explore, and roll up your sleeves to get involved!
