What is De Langstraat?
De Langstraat is a region in the south of the Netherlands, in the province of North Brabant. Historically, it is known for its leather and shoe industry. Today, De Langstraat is a versatile region with characteristic villages, natural areas and a strong combination of culture, business and recreation.
Which places belong to De Langstraat?
The area lies roughly between the major cities of Breda, Tilburg and 's-Hertogenbosch and consists of the municipalities of Heusden (Heusden, Drunen, Vlijmen, Nieuwkuijk, Haarsteeg, Elshout, Doeveren, Herpt and Hedikhuizen), Waalwijk (Waalwijk and Sprang-Capelle), Geertruidenberg (Geertruidenberg, Raamsdonk and Raamsdonksveer) and Loon op Zand (Kaatsheuvel, Loon op Zand and De Moer)

Accessibility & transport
How do I get to De Langstraat by car?
Traveling by car from Breda? Then take the A59 towards Waalwijk via junction Hooipolder. If you are coming from 's-Hertogenbosch, take the A59 towards Waalwijk-Breda at junction Empel. From Tilburg, the region is easy to reach via the N261 towards Waalwijk.

Is De Langstraat easily accessible by public transportation?
De Langstraat is centrally located between Den Bosch, Tilburg and Breda, making it easily accessible by public transport. From these cities you can easily travel further into the region by bus or cab.
Are you coming from further away, for example via Schiphol Airport or Eindhoven Airport? Then it's best to first take the train to Den Bosch, Tilburg or Breda and there change to a bus or cab to your destination, such as Loon op Zand, Kaatsheuvel, Waalwijk, Geertruidenberg or Heusden.
Where can I park?
Where the best place to park varies by municipality. In Loon op Zand and De Moer you can usually park along the road or in designated parking spaces. In many cases this is free.
Are you visiting the center of Waalwijk? Several parking lots are available around the city center, such as Taxandriaweg, De Els and Unnaplein. Paid parking applies here, with the exception of shopping Sundays.
In and around the historic core of Geertruidenberg, there is plenty of parking within walking distance of the Market Square. Parking is free throughout the municipality, including Raamsdonksveer and Raamsdonk.
For a visit to Heusden Vesting it is best to park your car at the edge of the fortress. There are three large parking lots with usually enough space: Vestingstraat (P Heusden Centrum Zuid), Mastdijk (P Heusden Centrum Oost) and Tramhaven (P Heusden Centrum West).

Are there parking lots near natural areas and attractions?
National Park De Loonse en Drunense Duinen has several entrances and nature gates, including in Loon op Zand, Kaatsheuvel, Waalwijk and Drunen. Parking spaces are available at these locations.
Going to the Efteling? The park has spacious parking lots right at the entrance. For a fee you can park your car here and walk right in.

Sure! There are plenty of opportunities to rent a bike in De Langstraat. Whether you choose a city bike, e-bike or mountain bike, there's something for everyone.

What to do in De Langstraat?
What natural areas are there in De Langstraat?
In the region you will find five large nature reserves, namely De Loonse en Drunense Duinen, Huis Ter Heide, Natuurgebied Westelijke Langstraat, Nationaal Park De Biesbosch and Landschapspark Pauwels. There are also a number of smaller nature reserves such as Natuurgebied De Moerputten or Natuurgebied Elshoutse Wielen.

Yes, for sure. At the Loonse en Drunense Duinen you will find catering establishments such as Hotel-Restaurant Duinrand Drunen, Grand Café Sands, De Rustende Jager, Natuurpoort van Loon and Hotel-Restaurant D'n Dries.

You can book all kinds of tours and excursions. For example, visit Museum De Roos or St. John the Baptist Church. Learn all about the most beautiful sights in the heart of Waalwijk. Be guided along alleys, squares, the harbors, beautifully restored fortifications and the many monumental buildings of Heusden and Geertruidenberg. Most excursions are not suitable for the disabled because most routes pass through old towns. For each tour you can find information on whether it is suitable for disabled or not on the overview page of all excursions and tours.
