Heusden, Het Gouverneurshuis Movie Night: I Swear

On Friday, November 20, the movie "I Swear" will be shown at the Governor's House in Heusden.

This true story follows Scottish teenager John Davidson, who suddenly begins exhibiting tics and involuntarily swearing. In 1983, he is diagnosed with Tourette syndrome, a condition that was virtually unknown at the time. As a result, John faces various challenges, both at home and at school, as well as later in his career.

The film follows his life over a period of about forty years and shows how he copes with his condition and the reactions of those around him. Director Kirk Jones, known for, among other things, Waking Ned and Nanny McPhee, manages to combine tragedy and humor in a unique and heartwarming way. The film won the Audience Award at IFFR 2026.
