An abbey as a beacon in a raging sea

When Vlijmen and its surroundings are heavily shelled a monastery serves, as in the Middle Ages, as a place of refuge. Mariënkroon is located on the grounds of the former castle Onsenoort, whose monumental medieval tower is still in good condition. The historical name Onsenoort (Honsoirde) lives on in Nieuwkuijk in the guild, the Harmonie and the Heemkundekring.
