A square with a tragic origin

This location part of the Liberation Route Scottish Highlanders Heusden

During the winter of '44-'45, V-1s rage over De Langstraat. Some come down prematurely and cause many casualties. This also creates a new center in Vlijmen. Vlijmen, like every village in De Langstraat, is characterized by ribbon development. From east to west the village is over 2km long, from south to north it is at most a few hundred meters at the time of the war.
