Natuurgebied Dijkenstelsel Heusden

Around the municipality of Heusden runs a 35 kilometer long medieval ring dike, with names such as Vlijmense Dijk, Molenhoek, Voordijk, Inlaagdijk, Oude Haven, Hoge Maasdijk, Maasdijk, Zeedijk, Meerdijk and Heidijk, which had to protect the inhabitants from the floods of the Meuse. Most of this ring dike is more than 700 years old. A beautiful hiking and biking trail runs across the dikes.
