Go on the Old factories proverbs route
From the 18th century onwards, many shoes were made in Kaatsheuvel. Almost every house had its own little factory behind the house. Here they worked the leather (=leather tanning) or made shoes. Behind the house of Hoofdstraat 1 and also to its left, at number 3, you can still clearly see what those factories looked like.
