Following city council approval on the "Warm and Good" plan on Dec. 16, 2021, the former city hall underwent a major renovation and repurposing. Stadshotel Geertruidenberg is now located in the old city hall of Geertruidenberg, an impressive building that has its origins in the fourteenth century (1330). The four buildings, which housed the town hall, have a rich history, two of which on the left were once grave houses. In one of the rooms there are murals from the fifteenth century, depicting scenes from the life and crucifixion of Christ. The right building dates from 1366, while the showpiece, the former town hall (No. 36), has its origins in the fourteenth century.
The facade of the building, with its characteristic balcony, was designed in 1768. The council chamber, which now serves as a wedding hall, used to be a courtroom. The icons of Vrouwe Justitia, found in several places, are a reminder of the building's legal past. Stadshotel Geertruidenberg has 15 luxury hotel rooms that combine the historic charm of the location with modern comforts. There are also a wedding hall for legal weddings and two special meeting rooms with historical allure.
Near the hotel you will find a wide range of catering establishments, ideal for a cozy dinner or a refreshing ice cream after a day of exploration. Geertruidenberg offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy local delicacies and the cozy atmosphere of the city.
