After De Loonse en Drunense Duinen, this route sends you via the Elshoutse Wielen to the Bergsche Maas. The Bergsche Maas is a 24.5-kilometer long dug river that connects the Biesbosch and 's-Hertogenbosch. We recommend stopping in the picturesque fortified town of Heusden for a bite to eat and a drink. This beautiful, convivial fortified town grew up around one of the oldest moated castles in northwestern Europe. As one of the first Dutch towns, Heusden received a city wall, parts of which can still be seen. Thanks to prestigious restorations, much of the original Heusden can still be admired.
The bike route leads you through Haarsteegse Wiel nature reserve and De Roeivijver back to the starting point.
