Guided tour for groups Tour of the fortifications of Heusden

Ramparts and mill Heusden fortress

This unique tour focuses on the fortifications of Heusden. The walk starts at the model in the Tourist Information Centre. From this location a professional guide accompanies the group to the ramparts. Thanks to these ramparts, Heusden was also called the "impregnable fortress" in the 17th century. The title 'tLants Sterckte' is also due to this.

Along the way the guide tells about the development and function of the fortifications, about lords of the castle, archers, mercenaries and fortress farmers. During the route you walk along restored ramparts, moats, gates and city walls. A special tour, packed with historical stories and structures.

Please note: from the starting location you will walk over uneven pavement and cobblestones towards the fortifications. Ramps and steps occur on these ramparts themselves. This makes the walk unsuitable for wheelchair users, people with walkers, baby carriages or participants with walking difficulties. We recommend assessing for yourself in advance whether participation is feasible for you.
