What does hospitality mean to your business?
For us, hospitality means much more than just a warm welcome for our guests. It means that everyone who walks through our doors feels seen, appreciated, and welcome. That applies just as much to our employees as it does to our guests.
We believe that people can only give genuine attention if they experience it themselves. That’s why we invest in personal attention, development, and providing opportunities—especially to people for whom this might not come as naturally.
We also see hospitality as a way to breathe new life into our heritage. By repurposing historic buildings, we don’t just let guests stay overnight in a historic site—we let them become part of the story that this place has been telling for centuries. In this way, history doesn’t stand still; it lives on every day thanks to the people who stay, work, and meet here.
In what ways do you excel in the area of hospitality?
We believe that true hospitality arises when an enthusiastic team is given the freedom to provide genuine attention. We combine the unique atmosphere of our historic heritage with personalized service, an eye for detail, and a warm welcome. In doing so, we strive not only to meet expectations but, whenever possible, to exceed them.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
To us, this nomination feels like the crowning achievement of a journey that began back in 2019. That’s when the dream of breathing new life into the historic heart of Geertruidenberg was born. After years of restoration, construction, and collaboration, we opened the doors of Stadshotel Geertruidenberg at the end of 2024. The fact that we—together with our amazing team—are now among the final 18 nominees in Brabant feels like a wonderful recognition for everyone who helped make this happen.
De Hoge Heide
De Hoge Heide in Vlijmen is the perfect spot for a complete and varied outing. There’s plenty to do here: from bowling and indoor soccer to digital games, squash, or a game of shuffleboard. Whether you want to get active or just relax and enjoy yourself, there’s something for everyone. With a playground, terrace, and restaurant, it’s also an ideal destination for families, groups, and company outings.

“For us, hospitality means that everyone feels welcome and at home the moment they walk in. We want to be a place where families, friends, and colleagues come together to relax and have fun. It’s all in the little things: a warm atmosphere, paying attention to our guests, and the feeling that everything is allowed and nothing is required. With our close-knit team, we strive to create that every single day—as if you were visiting one big family.”
In what ways do you excel in the area of hospitality?
“We really set ourselves apart by truly thinking along with our guests. We offer accessible, low-threshold activities with a fresh twist, for young and old alike. Whether you’re coming with a small group or a larger party, we provide customized experiences and tailor everything to the guest’s wishes—and budget. Plus, we’re weatherproof, so you’re in good hands here whether it’s hot or raining. We try to say ‘yes’ to just about everything and turn every visit into a celebration.”
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
“What people often don’t immediately realize is how important sustainability and our environment are to us. We’re located next to a beautiful Natura 2000 area and are actively working toward sustainable business practices, such as installing solar panels and keeping beehives on the roof. We even use that honey in our dishes. For us, that’s really part of who we are: we don’t just want to be a pleasant place for people, but also to treat the nature around us with care. And we love sharing that story with our guests.”

The Brabant Hospitality Award 2026/2027, organized by Visit Brabant, lets you discover where you’ll receive a truly warm welcome in Brabant. It’s all about places and entrepreneurs who go the extra mile to make your visit special—from providing personalized service to creating unique experiences.
