From the book '13 blokskes om'.
Kerkenakker
Today's Brasserie De Kiosk was once our music kiosk. An open "shell" with beautiful acoustics, where the two Loon harmonies Concordia and Sophia's Vereeniging often performed their sounds. We walk north down Venloonstraat. At the end on the right you can see the hamlet Land van Kleef. After KP19 we walk behind the Land van Kleef. The pastures are surrounded by woods and usually there are horses on them. This is the historic Kerkenakker.
A monument recalls the church that once stood there. It was built in 1150, and because of the threat of advancing drifting sand, our "Venloon" ancestors began building the current church in Kerkstraat in 1394. With that, the then village was also moved several hundred meters. You walk through a play forest of a group accommodation and then you come back to the Land of Cleves. Arable and livestock farming is very limited there today and is hobby-like. Horses are now kept, there are group accommodations and a B&B.
You then walk along beautiful paths towards the old Kloosterstraat. You'll end up at KP21 in the parking lot at Natuurpoort van Loon. At this stopping place there is a lot to do in terms of staying, sports and recreation. It is another 1 km to the starting point through the Kloosterstraat.
