Starting point: Venestraat, Geertruidenberg (junction 14).

  • Walk via the Koestraat towards junction 11.

Halfway on the right side, bricked into the facade of the current building, remnants of the Groot and Klein Prinsenhof can still be seen. At the end "The New Koepoort" by Ton Buijnsters from 1997, placed here at the dissolution of the former municipality of Geertruidenberg.

  • Follow the route to node 10.
  • Cross over and continue your way along the water towards node 45.

On the right river Donge with the Noordergat. Energy and industry are the terms that fit this part of De Donge. The former Donge power plant on the other side was the first non-private power plant in Brabant in the early twentieth century. To the left are the Polder Gasthuisweide and the Kartuizerpolder.

At node 45 the artwork 'Last Sandbags'. In 1993-1994 the East Donge dikes were raised and widened by the Water Board. The head maintenance office came up with the idea to give the superfluous 'last sandbags' in concrete a place near the dike.

  • From node 45 you walk under the viaduct along De Donge to node 44.
  • Then go along the Kromgat via node 41 to node 42 in the Polder Hooislobben.

  • Walk from node 42 to node 43.

  • Walk on to node 49 and 38 along the Zandput. Then continue to node 43.

  • From node 43 you walk along the Donge back to nodes 44 and 45 and along De Kloosterhoeve to node 48.

Where the Carthusian monastery used to be now stands this care facility. At the entrance a statue of Saint Bruno dressed in the habit of a Carthusian monk. The founder of the order, he carries in his left hand the book in which the monastic rules were written down. The left foot rests on an orb that distances him from worldly pleasures. The love of Christ is depicted by the right hand resting on the heart. The skull on the pedestal symbolizes penance and transience of life. The head is of later date than the statue itself.

  • Continue to node 10. Via the Koebrug over the Donge River, continue to node 11 and then 14.
