The nature reserve De Westelijke Langstraat is situated on the transition from sandy to clay soil and is therefore also called the "Seam of Brabant". The Western Langstraat is a valuable landscape with a lot of nature and cultural history. The unique location of this protected Natura 2000 area with different soil layers make the Western Langstraat a unique, water-rich area.
This 10th stage ends at the Baardwijkse Overlaat. A natural area of over 48 hectares that was originally used to "park" the water of the Meuse River in case of high water.
Would you like to walk an extended version of this route? Then walk stage 10 and stage 11 back to back. Possibly with an overnight stay in Waalwijk, where stage 10 ends and stage 11 begins. You can find the entire route here. For more information about the Zuiderwaterlinie path click here.
