From picturesque dikes to nature reserve Westelijke Langstraat

With this bike route you cycle over picturesque dikes and along the nature reserve Westelijke Langstraat. You also cycle along the former border between Dongen and's Gravenmoer which used to indicate the border between the former Brabant and Holland. Nowadays there are oak border posts marking the line. Besides the river Donge, you also pass a wide ditch. These ditches were once dug for transporting peat. Thanks to this ditch,'s Gravenmoer also owes its nickname: The Giethoorn of the South.
The nature reserve Westelijke Langstraat is located on the transition from sand to clay, which is called the "Naad van Brabant". The distinctive feature of this nature reserve is the Slagen landscape, with its narrow parcels of land, fringed with alder hedges.
