Natural areas
Nature reserve Westelijke Langstraat, located between Waalwijk and Waspik, lies on the transition from sand to clay, called the "Seam of Brabant." The distinctive feature of the nature area is the Slagen landscape with its long narrow plots, which are bordered with alder hedges. The areas Den Dulver, De Dullaart, De Hoven, De Dellen and the Labbegat together form this nature reserve in Sprang-Capelle.
Walkers and peace seekers can also indulge in smaller natural gems such as De Veste, the Baardwijkse Overlaat and the unique Overdiepse Polder with its characteristic mound farms.

Hot-air balloon rides in Brabant
August 20, 2026
It’s a warm summer evening as I walk onto the lawn at the Lido in Waalwijk. In the distance, I see the Roza Ballooning trailer. Marianne and Ad Roza are already hard at work with the preparations. A large black bag is taken out of the trailer, followed by something I immediately recognize as the wicker basket of a hot-air balloon. By Laura van der Wal
